The best restaurants at Hotel Xcaret Arte

By Shadia·Updated

Hotel Xcaret Arte has 10 restaurants, and the best one depends on the night. For a date, book Encanta (included) or Xaak (surcharge). For the special occasion, Le Chique. For your first night or a late one, walk into Cantina VI.AI.PY. For a long lunch by the water, Arenal. For breakfast, Mercado de San Juan, or Kibi-Kibi if you are staying in Casa de los Artistas.

Everything except Le Chique, Xaak, the Arenal premium cuts and the Tah-Xido omakase is included. Reservations are required at the fine-dining rooms and they fill before arrival, so send your wish list early.

How dining works at Hotel Xcaret Arte

Hotel Xcaret Arte is adults-only (16 and up with a parent or guardian) and every restaurant runs on the All-Fun Inclusive plan. Ten restaurants sit across five guest Casas and the Casa del Patrón hub. Four of them (Le Chique, Xaak, Encanta, Tah-Xido) are reservation-only rooms that book out; Le Chique and Xaak also cost extra. You book through the pre-arrival Wish List form (hxagservice@hotelxcaret.com), the Xcaret app or your Casa reception; Le Chique and Xaak also take OpenTable. Kibi-Kibi and the Artistas rooftop are for Casa de los Artistas guests only. Chino Poblano closed in late 2025 (Le Chique took its space) and Apapachoa became Cosexa in January 2026, so blogs using those names are out of date.

Best for date night: Encanta and Xaak

Encanta is the best-value fancy dinner at Hotel Xcaret Arte because it costs nothing extra. Paco Méndez's set menu in Casa de la Música runs about eight courses of playful Mexican classics (tapioca gordita with pork belly, soursop ceviche, cheek taco, guajillo beef rib) with a view toward the Música stage. Guests rate it 5.0 of 5 on TripAdvisor across 401 reviews; a minority found it slow. Resort elegant dress, reservations required, optional pairings MXN 1,100 or 1,600.

Xaak is the paid version: Karime López's 16-course seafood-led menu in Casa de la Pirámide, MXN 3,500 per person on the official page (a February 2026 blog said MXN 4,200). Sea urchin tlacoyo, oysters with habanero sambal, kampachi a la veracruzana. Reviews run 4.9 of 5, with a few calling it too expensive for the flavor. Book it for the big night, not a random Tuesday.

Best for a special occasion: Le Chique

Le Chique is the 2026 arrival: Jonatán Gómez Luna moved his MICHELIN-starred restaurant into the old Chino Poblano space in Casa del Patrón in February 2026. It is a 27-course tasting menu that travels north to south through Mexico. MXN 3,900 per person, pairings MXN 3,000 or 5,000. Dinner only, Monday to Saturday, seatings 6:00pm to 8:00pm, closed Sunday. Men need long pants and closed shoes. A Chef's Table and private rooms are available. It is too new for a body of guest reviews, so we are going on the chef's record.

Best for your first night or a late night: Cantina VI.AI.PY.

Cantina VI.AI.PY. is Alejandro Ruiz's Oaxacan cantina at the top of Casa del Patrón: tlayudas, mole negro, grasshopper guacamole, mezcal and a live band most nights. It is walk-in and included, half restaurant and half party, which makes it the easiest first night and the best late option on property. Lunch from around midday to 6:00pm, dinner from 6:00pm; reported closing times conflict (11pm vs 3am). A few mains are dinner only, and insects are on the menu.

Best long lunch: Arenal

Arenal is the open-air room by the cove and main pool. Since late 2025 José Luis Hinostroza runs it as BaJa-Loa: Baja California and Sinaloa seafood by day (green aguachile with scallops, Sinaloan tuna tostada, smoked marlin gringa, zarandeado fish) and a fire-grill steakhouse at night. Guests call it their favorite lunch. No reservations, so expect a wait at peak. Lunch 12:00pm to 6:00pm, dinner 6:00pm to 11:00pm. Included except the Premium Grill cuts (MXN 3,000 to 4,700).

Best breakfast: Mercado de San Juan, or Kibi-Kibi if you are in Casa de los Artistas

Mercado de San Juan is the main buffet, styled after Mexico City's market: handmade tortillas, taco and torta stands, egg stations, crepes, stews and a Bloody Mary cart. Many guests call it the best breakfast across the Xcaret hotels. Walk in, 7:00am to 12:00pm. It also hosts Sunday Brunch (10:00am to 4:00pm, more than 40 stations, included for guests, MXN 3,000 for outside visitors).

Kibi-Kibi is the private restaurant of Casa de los Artistas, where Roberto Solís mixes Yucatán and Lebanon: khachapuri, Motul-style eggs, much-praised French toast. Small, calm and rated 5.0 of 5 across 180 reviews. Breakfast 7:00am to 11:30am, reservations required. Non-Artistas guests reportedly pay about USD 120, which one reviewer did not think was worth it.

Best for vegans: Cosexa

Cosexa is the fully vegan restaurant on the Casa de la Paz rooftop, which replaced Apapachoa in January 2026. Breakfast leans Mexican (mole enchiladas, chilaquiles with chickpea chorizo, tamales); dinner does wood-fired pizza, lasagna, jackfruit tacos and a plant-based short rib. Included, and the quietest breakfast at the hotel. Hours are not published; its predecessor ran 7:00am to 1:00pm and 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Many dishes use nut-based cheeses.

Best for sushi and groups: Tah-Xido

Tah-Xido is Luis Arzapalo's Japanese room in Casa del Patrón with three ways in: a la carte sushi and Asian plates, teppanyaki tables of about 12 with a show, or a paid omakase (about USD 200 per person, per 2025 blogs). Reviewers say the a la carte menu (black cod in miso, bluefin nigiri from Ensenada) is where it shines and the teppanyaki is more fun than delicious. Dinner only, 6:00pm to 11:00pm, reservations required; teppanyaki tables fill first.

Best poolside: Cayuco

Cayuco is the all-day restaurant beside the main infinity pool in Casa del Diseño, with tables over the water and a mimosa cart at breakfast. It is the calmer alternative to the buffet and the natural lunch when you do not want to leave the pool. The menu is officially surf and turf now, but the current food menu is not published, so treat any dish list as historical. Breakfast 7:00am to 11:00am, lunch 12:00pm to 6:00pm; 2026 dinner unverified. Swim casual by day.

Reservations and dress codes

Reservation-required: Le Chique, Xaak, Encanta, Tah-Xido and Kibi-Kibi, plus Sunday Brunch. Walk-in: Cantina VI.AI.PY., Arenal, Mercado de San Juan, Cayuco and, as far as we can confirm, Cosexa. Le Chique (984 257 7200 ext. 4670) and Xaak (984 257 7200) run 30-minute seatings with a 15-minute grace period.

Dress codes climb with the price. The four fine-dining rooms want long pants and closed shoes for men and a cocktail dress or equivalent for women. The rest are casual by day and smart casual at dinner; Cayuco and the pool bars are swim casual by day. No official dress codes are published for the bars. One resort-elegant outfit per person covers a four or five night stay.

What to book before arrival

  • Encanta first. It is included, reservation-only and the one most guests want.
  • Tah-Xido second, and ask for a teppanyaki table if you want the show; those fill before the dining room.
  • Le Chique or Xaak if you are paying for one big night. Le Chique is closed Sunday; Xaak runs daily.
  • Kibi-Kibi breakfasts if you are in Casa de los Artistas, and Sunday Brunch if your stay includes a Sunday.
  • Leave Cantina VI.AI.PY., Arenal, Mercado de San Juan and Cayuco unbooked; they are the walk-in safety net.
