Hotel Xcaret Arte vs Hotel Xcaret Mexico: which one should you book?
By Shadia·Updated
Hotel Xcaret Arte is the adults-only choice (16 and up with a parent or guardian) and Hotel Xcaret Mexico is the family resort. Both sit on the same property, both come with the All-Fun Inclusive park package, and both are built as clusters of Casas. The differences are who is allowed in, how many restaurants you get, and what the nights look like.
Short version: couples, honeymooners and groups of adults should book Hotel Xcaret Arte. Families, mixed-age groups and anyone who wants the widest choice of restaurants and pools should book Hotel Xcaret Mexico.

Who each hotel is for
Hotel Xcaret Arte is adults-only. The official FAQ (checked September 16, 2026) says guests 16 and up are welcome with a parent or legal guardian; the Sunday Brunch page and some listings say 18 and up, so treat 16 as the hotel rule and 18 as what you may hear at certain venues. The hotel is themed around Mexican art and crafts, and guest reports say artistic workshops (pottery, painting, singing) are included and exclusive to Arte guests.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is the family resort: Kids Club, family suites, a children's pool with a waterslide, and Casas for every kind of group. It also has adults-only Casas (Casa Fuego and Casa Eclipse) with their own restaurants and rooftops. After the 2025 expansion it has about 1,800 suites, which makes it far bigger and busier than Arte.
Rooms: how the Casas work at each hotel
Both hotels are clusters of Casas, and the Casa you pick changes what you can use. At Hotel Xcaret Arte the current official Casas are Casa del Diseño (reception, main infinity pool, Cayuco), Casa de los Artistas (the exclusive one, with Kibi-Kibi and a private rooftop), Casa de la Pirámide (Xaak), Casa de la Música (Encanta) and Casa de la Paz (Cosexa, Muluk Spa, El Deseo). Casa del Patrón is the dining hub, not a guest-room Casa. Older names such as Casa del Cielo are no longer current.
At Hotel Xcaret Mexico the Casas run from family-first (Casa Viento, Casa Espiral, the lower-priced Casa Tierra) to adults-only Casa Fuego and Casa Eclipse. Casa Fuego guests get the Fuego restaurant and the Casa Fuego Rooftop included; everyone else pays a surcharge at Fuego dinner and cannot use that rooftop. Our Casa guide walks through every option.
Dining: 10 restaurants vs 16
Hotel Xcaret Arte has 10 restaurants: Le Chique and Xaak (paid tasting menus), Encanta (an included tasting menu), Kibi-Kibi (Casa de los Artistas only), Tah-Xido, Cantina VI.AI.PY., Arenal, Cosexa (fully vegan), Mercado de San Juan (the buffet) and Cayuco (poolside). The kitchens lean toward chef-driven Mexican cooking, and there are no kids in the room.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico has 16 restaurants on our published list (the resort's own count is 20 restaurants and 11 bars), including HA', Carlos Gaytán's MICHELIN-starred tasting room at USD 149 per person, prepaid. The rest runs from buffets (Chibalí, Mercado de la Merced, Las Cuevas) to signature rooms (Teatro del Río with a live show, Xin-Gao, Fuego, Arriba Baja). Several chefs cook at both hotels: Luis Arzapalo, Alejandro Ruiz, Roberto Solís and Paco Méndez each have a room at Arte and one at Mexico.
Surcharges: Arte has Le Chique (MXN 3,900), Xaak (MXN 3,500 on the official page) and premium grill cuts at Arenal. Mexico has HA' (USD 149), Fuego dinner for non-Casa Fuego guests (USD 65) and Brunch Dominical (MXN 4,500). Our surcharge guide lists all of them with sources.
Parks: the same All-Fun Inclusive package
This is the part that does not differ. Both hotels sell the All-Fun Inclusive package, which covers Xcaret, Xel-Há, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xenses and Xoxi, plus the Xenotes tour and the Xailing ferry to Isla Mujeres with the catamaran snorkel tour. Chichén Itzá, the Tulum tour, ATV Xperience, Xenses Insomnia, spa treatments, photos and in-park add-ons are extra at both. If the parks are your main reason for coming, the hotel choice comes down to people and food, not access.
Nightlife: El Deseo vs Xupes
Hotel Xcaret Arte's nightlife is El Deseo, a hidden speakeasy behind a taco cart. Early evening is cocktails with a live band; around 11pm a DJ and light show take over and it runs late (sources say 7 or 8pm to 4am; one says 9pm to 2am). Its exact Casa depends on who you ask (the official Casas page says Casa de la Paz, the Grupo Xcaret blog says near Casa de la Música); find the taco cart and ask. Drinks are included. Cantina VI.AI.PY. has live music most nights, and the rooftop bars close around 6:30pm per guest reports.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico's answer is Xupes, a newer adults-only nightclub that connects to the Pava Jarla taco stand; hours are not published on our venue page. Mexico also has an adults-only sports bar inside Cantina Los Faroles. Neither hotel is a party resort; El Deseo is the more distinctive night out.
Can you eat at the other hotel?
The two hotels share a property but not a dining plan. Our Arte research and a 2026 travel blog agree that Hotel Xcaret Arte guests generally cannot dine at Hotel Xcaret Mexico, with one reported exception: Casa de los Artistas guests. Whether Hotel Xcaret Mexico guests can dine at Arte is unverified; the same blog says no. La Casa de la Playa guests are reported to have access to both. Sunday Brunch at Mercado de San Juan is the one Arte meal sold to outsiders (MXN 3,000); HA' and Brunch Dominical at Mexico are open to external diners. Confirm any cross-access at booking; our access-rules guide has the full matrix.
Price positioning
We do not publish nightly rates because they move with season, room category and promotions, and any number we printed would be wrong within weeks. Guest reports place Hotel Xcaret Arte above the standard Casas at Hotel Xcaret Mexico and below La Casa de la Playa, with Casa de los Artistas and Casa Fuego at the top of their respective hotels. Check both official sites (linked in the sources) for live rates on your dates and compare the same room category.
Verdict
- Book Hotel Xcaret Arte if you are two adults (or a group of adults), you care about chef-driven dinners and quieter pools, and one late night at El Deseo sounds like enough nightlife.
- Book Hotel Xcaret Mexico if you have children, a mixed-age group, or you want the most restaurants and pools in one place. Pick Casa Fuego or Casa Eclipse if you want adults-only inside the family resort.
- Book Casa de los Artistas at Arte if you want both: Kibi-Kibi and the private rooftop, plus the reported right to eat at Mexico.
- Either way, send your dining wish list before arrival. Le Chique, Xaak, Encanta and Tah-Xido at Arte, and HA', Teatro del Río and Brunch Dominical at Mexico, all book out.
