The season runs roughly April to September and peaks in the summer months; November to March is usually clean. Arrivals vary by week and by wind, so a forecast is a probability, not a schedule.

What it means at this resort

• The main beach and the coves can carry seaweed on heavy days. The resort rakes the sand daily, but on the worst days the crews cannot keep up and the water near shore looks and smells like a compost heap.
• The river network that runs through the property, the Casa pools, the wet bars at Cenote and Toboganes, and the ocean-view suites are unaffected.
• Xcaret park's underground rivers, Xplor, Xenotes, and Xoxi do not depend on the open beach. Xel-Há's inlet is sheltered but not immune.
• Snorkeling from the resort beach is the activity most likely to be a wash-out. The Xailing catamaran snorkel trip goes further offshore and is the better bet in season.
